Timecop1983 Background

A few years back, we wrote up the Timecop1983 album from 2021 ‘Faded Touch’, which was a full length affair. Scattered throughout his career are a collection of EP’s, of which ‘Multiverse’ is the latest – from 2022. Looking at the album and song titles, do we have a sci-fi or space opera influenced set of tracks here?

The Songs

The straight-forward answer to that is no. This is more of the synthwave laden goodies we expect from Mr Lennaerts. The Timecop1983 template is in evidence. And if you’re a synthwave fan, then you can easily identify one of Jody’s tracks from a few parsecs away.

‘Escaping The Void’ is easy to spot as an opening tune with its textbook synth patterns and familiar drum work. Throbbing oscillators introduce ‘Lost Time’ and it rears its head often through this track.

‘Dark Skies’ features the night time sounds of the urban city, the heavy synth backdrop feels like a scene from a dystopian future. ‘Signals’ zooms in with a Vangelis like set of sub sonics. This is a track where you can feel rather than just hear the music. At full volume, this could fracture glass objects!

‘Duality’ builds nicely with synth and drum parts coming together evenly. There is a lead instrument used which sounds like a guitar solo, but my guess is that it’s a synth patch.

In Summary

‘Multiverse’ is a good intermediary and pitstop for fans of Timecop1983 as they wait for the next chapter in the book of Jordy Lennaerts.
