Background
From Milwaukee Wisconsin, Colour Radio were a new wave/melodic pop quartet who formed back in 1982. They released their one-off self titled debut album two years later on the back of some strong local presence, and of course the still popular new wave, pop and new romantic scenes that were part of the trend back at that time.
The album demonstrated that Colour Radio had a melodic core, and had its moments, though some of the songs were admittedky scratchy too. Reference points include: The Police, Taxxi, and Men At Work – especially when they go down the quirky route. The album was produced by Rick Derringer, he also guested on it as well. Derringer had tinkered with this new wave style on his DNA project with Carmine Appice, it must have been a phase he was going through at the time.
