Background

Described as one of the great lost bands of the 70’s, Blue Ash come from the same school of power-pop as The Raspberries, both bands admired for their sugary sweet melodies and originating out of Ohio.

It’s a pity the band never became as big as some of their contemporaries, as musically, Blue Ash were probably technically superior in musicianship. Their 1973 debut ‘No More No Less’ released by Mercury is a closet classic, and was the antithesis of all that was going on around them. Short sweet songs, three minutes or less, in stark contrast to all the progressive rock yawn-fests sweeping America.

The band followed their debut up with ‘Front Page News’ on the Playboy Records label during 1977 before signing off in 1979. A CD compilation called ‘Around Again’ came out in 2004, containing 44 songs, taken from a staggering 219 songs that were found remaining in the studio. If you want to revisit classic power pop from a different age, investigate Blue Ash.
