Here’s a brand new all female AOR band coming at you from Sweden. They are Emotional Fire. If you’re wondering where the band name comes from, its origins trace back to a tune co-written by Michael Bolton, Diane Warren and Desmond Child and has since been covered by Cher and Sunstorm. The Swedish quintet have been put together by Rocknytt web publishers Ron and Nina Dahlgren.
The duo scoured right across Sweden looking for the right team, the five gals listed above coming together just recently. Listening to this EP the first artist which immediately comes to mind is American artist Robin Beck particularly on the vocal side of things, while other female fronted bands like Big Trouble, Precious Metal and Vixen also feature in the mix.
The four tracks featured here include three covers and a Swedish composition put together and written by well known Swedes Pete Alpenborg, Rick Altzi and Ulrick Lonnqvist. Their contribution is the title track ‘Will You Be There’ for which the band have recently released an official video which sounds and looks bloody great!, Check the link below.
Second up is a cover of the Bucks Fizz track ‘Breaking Me Up’, which sounds more like a Robin Beck affair, particularly with all those keyboards going on in the background. Very tasty I reckon.
‘Time Is Going To Come’ is a Russ Ballard number, you can definitely hear the Ballard style of songwriting here, for those of you that are interested, Russ originally performed this track on his 1985 album ‘The Fire Still Burns’. To me the lyrics suggest this is the ultimate ‘karma’ song. Badly behaving spouses please take note.
Lastly, ‘Emotional Fire’ as written above, has been covered by Cher on her 1989 album ‘Heart Like Stone’ and Sunstorm‘s 2012 album of the same name. This rendition is in keeping with the 80’s way of delivering melodic rock.
According to sources, Emotional Fire are set for a full album release later in 2023, my guess it will be with the same group of people that manage the band Gathering Of Kings due to the various business associations already in place.
Gigs are ongoing but of immediate interest is that the band are appearing on the Rocknytt Cruise departing Stockholm this weekend Friday and Saturday 21/22 April 2023. For those lucky enough to be on board, make sure to give the girls a listen.

Looking forward to a full length album based on what I’m hearing on this EP. Seems they are in good hands – management wise.
